Visitors From the East!

Kelly and Olivia arrived on Wednesday evening from Madison, right on time! Dan and I met them at the security check point, grabbed their things and headed back to Chateau Arthur. It was so great to see Kelly and how much Olivia has grown! I cannot believe she's almost 2! What a cutie! (And she just loved the Snowball).

We got them home, showed them around and chatted and chatted. Dan made us all a yummy bar-b-q chicken salad and we continued our chatting until bedtime.

After work the next day I picked up Kelly and Olivia and took them to our favorite burger place, Smashburger. It lived up to it's excellence and then we cruised over to Target to get Kelly some new flip flops and look around. She took me down all the baby aisles and showed me what was what! Very helpful. Then, we swung by Blockbuster to rent a few Wii games and headed home. After that we took a quick nap before dinner at Sam & Louie's. DJ couldn't join us because he got cavities filled that afternoon, so it was just the 4 of us. We had our favorite Bar-b-q chicken pizza and tried a new one, Sam & Louie's Best. It wasn't THE Best, but it was good. After dinner we played Wii Carnival games and Super Mario. So much fun, Mario is a lot like the original, only MUCH harder!

Friday after work Dan had dental surgery. Afterward he came home to take some Vicadin and sleep while we packed up Olivia and headed to the zoo. This was the first time I'd been when it was above 50 degrees and the animals were also outside. It was great to see more of the zoo, although I wore the wrong shoes and pooped out after about an hour and a half. But, we stayed for almost 2 1/2 before heading home so we could see more of the animals. We all had a great time and Olivia seemed to be the most interested in the Orangutans! Here's some highlights.

It was a really nice time and a lot more crowded that it was in the dead of winter. We headed home and stopped by HyVee to pick up some groceries because Kelly had offered to cook us one of her favorite meals. It was delicious! We had Kielbasa with rice, diced tomatoes and red bell peppers. After dinner we played some Scrabble with DJ who kicked our butts both times. I was getting deliriously tired and Dan was on Vicadin, so it made for some funny moments. At one point he came downstairs and was reading the board and said, "Doing?" Thinking it made an "oy" sound instead of a verb. Very funny! And, I couldn't find a word to save my life and so I tried to pass juteRhonk as a word. That didn't work either, but gave us some good laughs. We had a lot of fun laying low that night and retired to bed around 10. This morning I took them to the airport and headed to my remote. I got there a bit early, so I started my new book for book club called "Look Again." So far it's REALLY good! That makes me happy considering all but one have been busts. I'm actually looking forward to picking it up again tomorrow!

Dan's still in quite a bit of pain. He had work done one of his four quadrants in his mouth, deep root cleaning. He's got stitches in and gets them out on Thursday. Not fun. But, the Vicadin is helping quite a bit. He's also taking antibiotics and has some prescription mouth wash since he isn't supposed to brush the one side of his mouth. He goes back in June to have more work done and DJ gets his cavities finished off in 2 weeks. It's the year of health and medical bills for the Arthurs.

Tonight DJ's headed out with some friends and Dan and I are going to watch "Up in the Air." Then, it's to bed for me. I hope I make it long enough to watch the movie, I'm fading FAST. (Even with a 2 hour nap this afternoon).
