Today I had a short day at work. I only needed to work 5 hours to get my hours in for the pay period because we were headed to do some pie judging! It's tough work, but someone has to do it! We met up with my co-host Chris Papst and his wife for the judging. The woman who'd asked us to judge was very sweet! We had to judge 8 pies based on appearance, taste, texture, filling, originality and "WOW" factor. We even got these cool blue judge ribbons to wear!

So, we picked up our forks and dug into each piece, savoring and tasting! We mainly tasted apple pies, but some had a twist and there was a pumpkin pie and a peach pie in the mix! Dan AND Chris kept making fun of me because every one of my first bites was immediately followed by either a "Mmmmmm" or a "Wow, that's good!" MEANIES! So, after tasting all 8, and Dan and I agreeing on what we liked and didn't like he leaned over and said, "See, that's another reason we're married, we like the same pies!" We were dead on with what we liked! Number 7 won, my highest score and got auctioned off for $11! (More than we would have paid for a half eaten pie)! It was fun, and we met two other nice judges! Here we all are!

It was definitely worth the trip and good to represent as the Mediacouple and WMTV and WIBA! Our bosses are so proud! In fact, we're going to be on the news together at 5 & 10! If it's worth showing, we'll try and post it on our site!
So, after we ended up eating about a slice and a half of pie (it was too much to finish each piece), we came home, put on our work out clothes and stuck to our work out program! We drove to Lake Monona, parked and ran 4 miles for me and 7 for Dan! It felt good to run, especially on flat ground! All the runs by our house are hilly, so this was a nice treat! And, it's lakefront, downtown Madison.... GORGEOUS! And, I finally tried out listening to a podcast during a run and it really does keep you from getting "bored" or mentally tired. I mean, my legs were tired, but my mind was good to go!
Now it's home, watching football and soon my handsome husband will be cooking us a steak dinner with garlic mashed potatoes and a salad! Plus, Dallas is playing the Packers in Green Bay tonight... so that should be a GREAT game! Looking forward to that! Since Dan has more hate for the Cowboys than he does the Pack, I think he may actually be rooting for the green and gold. Weird! But, I've got to say, I am rooting for Aaron Rodgers.
