Check!

So, as many of you know, I'm a list person! When I first moved to Wisconsin I made a list of things I wanted to do here before I moved. Since I just celebrated my 2 year anniversary at NBC 15, it seems fitting to pull out the list and see what still needs to be done!

Here it is, from my first ever work blog! www.nbc15.com/blogs

1. Catch a Brewers Game (check)!
2. Go to the Union Terrace and catch a sunset (soon, within the next month)!
3. Catch a Mallards game (check, check and check)!
4. Bratfest (check).
5. Climb the bluffs at Devils Lake State Park (check, the day after Dan moved here for his b-day)!
6. Summerfest (um, no check, and unlikely).
7. Taste of Madison (check)!
8. Packers game (the jury is still out... probably easier to get tix now that Brett's a Jet).
9. Road trip North to Door County (plans in the works for October).
10. Visit Wisconsin Dells (check, check, check and hopefully another couple)!

So, as you can see, we've done a lot, BUT still have a few things left to do!

Now... we JUST crossed off number one on Thursday! I cannot believe it took us this long, but we finally made the trip to Milwaukee to catch a Brewers game! On Wednesday I got an email from our assignment editor who was selling 2 tickets to the game at the last minute. So, I emailed Dan to see if he wanted to go. He did, so we bought the 2 tickets in homerville (right field, first row) and planned to go the next day! (Had they been on Wednesday, I think we would have foregone them to watch Governor Palin's speech at the RNC).

The drive was long because Hurricane Gustav's remnants graced us with their presence. Here's the view of Miller Park from the Interstate!

After 2 hours, we finally made it, about 45 minutes early. The ballpark was awesome! Such a spectacular view! The roof was closed, but it was still remarkable! First thing we did was grab a Chicago dog and our one and only Miller Light. (I mean, it is Miller Park). :-)

Then we found our seats, took a few pictures and sat back to enjoy the game! Here's the view from our seats!
They played the Padres who beat them pretty soundly, but it was still a fun game! We saw 2 home runs, but none came our way. They set off fireworks when the Brewers hit one out of the park and their mascot slides down this big yellow slide thing. It's pretty cool. After 7 long innings, we were beat. (We'd each woke up early for work that day). And, in our section the beer was apparently flowing well because a group of rowdy guys behind us started to get a little out of control and LOUD! In fact, when Rickie Weeks got up to bat they started singing "Oh Rickie you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, hey Rickie!"

Yeah... that was our cue to leave BEFORE they did and get on the road! We headed for the car and headed home. Since we had opted out of watching coverage of the RNC, we flipped on the AM radio and caught the tail end of John McCain's speech. Finally we made it about 11:30 and crashed HARD!

I think that's all the news that's fit to print lately! Although, I should mention that Dan and I have been political news junkies lately. The selection of Governor Palin has really got us excited about the upcoming election and breathed new life into us.
It's fun to see how her selection is influencing the election and all that's happening as a result! I think it's going to be an awesome 60 days!! We are really looking forward to the elections and cancelling out two votes here in Madison! Important since our state is a swing state!
