Last weekend we went to a birthday party/summer party at our friend Leigh and Charlie's. (As mentioned in the previous post). But we're re-mentioning it to show you a photo!
Since then, we've done a lot! We took a trip to the free zoo in Madison.
We'd never been before and were blown away with how many animals there were to see and how nice the zoo was! Our first stop was my favorite animal, the giraffe!
There were 3 giraffes and they were very entertaining! Not only did they get VERY close to us, but one of them kept trying to get a bite of the leaf that was just out of reach. It entertained us for about 20 minutes and in the end, he finally got a small leaf!
Then it was onto the bears! The Grizzle bear was taking a dip in the pool and was SO CUTE! He was scratching his back on the side of the pool and doing what looked like a little bit of a dance!
We also saw sea lions, polar bears, penguins, monkeys, flamingos, rhinoceros, lamas, big snakes and the list goes on and on and on! Speaking of monkeys...
After about an hour and a half the kids were tuckered and we headed home to rest, have dinner and get ready for church.
And while we're on the topic, we used some of our wedding money to put toward brand new road bikes! My brother and Chris, as our gift, helped us finish the purchase and we just got them this weekend! We've already been out on our first ride, which was AWESOME!
We rode from our house to Lake Monona in downtown and then back! It was incredible! Madison is such a bike friendly city, we took all bike paths and only had to cross a few roads. It really gives you a new perspective and appreciation for the city!

We were there for about 2 1/2 hours before I got tuckered out and we left! I even got a little bit of a sunburn on my shoulders... not the kids though... they were lathered up in lotion!
So, onto this weekend! Ryan and Chris came up to visit us from Chicago and bring us our new bikes! We were supposed to go up to Wisconsin Dells with our media passes, but the weather wasn't the best, so we decided to just hang at home! We ordered pizza and all 6 of us played Catch Phrase! That was fun! Although it was boys against girls and they smoked us! Oh my, it wasn't even close! I think they beat us something like 8 games to 1. But, it was SO MUCH FUN! Then, the 4 of us adults, went to a little Italian Restaurant by our house and enjoyed an adult beverage on the patio. That was nice! Then, this morning, I came home to a full house and a yummy breakfast prepared by Dan. (It was so good, it was actually "Dan-tastic")! He made an omelet with 3 different kinds of peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese and jalapenos and we also had bacon! He really out-did himself. Alex really likes his new uncle Ryan, however Becca didn't quite know what to make of his rapid fire toots! :-)
The next day I dropped the kids at the public pool for some swimming. While they were burning energy I met a girlfriend of mine for lunch and then we did some shopping for remaining items on our registry. Dan and I got some really nice towels! So soft! And the best news is, while we were there picking up some remaining items, I saw that the pots and pans I had just purchased were on clearance for $100 off! So, they gave me a credit and we got a second set of towels! SO COOL! And speaking of wedding gifts, we got a coffee/espresso machine! Here's Dan, our new favorite barista, getting ready to enjoy his hard work!

(which is why there are pictures)! Dan was going to go, but he wasn't feeling well. So we swam, snorkeled, dove and went down the slides! That was fun! Look close... there's Alex in the middle of a swan dive!

We did some shopping at Walmart so Becca and Alex could spend some of their hard earned cash. That's right... Becca's rich. She baby sat for Kelly's 6 week old baby, Olivia, and earned $50! And apparently Becca just loved baby sitting and told her dad she wants a baby. THAT didn't quite work how it was intended! :-) But Olivia is just adorable! A beautiful little girl.
Now, it's a movie and brownies (made by Alex and Becca) and then to bed for me!
More to come!
