Hooray for Spring!

GREAT weekend! (But too fast as usual)

We had an outstanding week last week. It actually flew by at a normal rate and we had some AWESOME shows. (If we don't say so ourselves.) Nonetheless, we were still ready for the weekend to arrive. And the big event of course was on Tuesday morning, right after we left work... Dan broke his nose! We were getting gas when he went to get back into the car while it was pumping and CRACK, right into the door. He instantly started bleeding and we took him to the ER right away. They said it was likely broken and because it wasn't crooked, he would not need any readjusting. Whew! He's doing a lot better now unless Jackson smacks it. Whew, what a day!

Back to the weekend. Friday night was pretty mellow. Dan and DJ watched TV together while I prepped the house for Kelly's shower and did a little reading. I'm all done with our book club book, The Heart Mender, so I'm catching up on reading Eclipse. The Heart Mender was spectacular, I highly recommend it. I'm really looking forward to talking about it next Thursday at book club. Plus, book club is fun to socialize as well. Kelly made a shirt, "My wine club has a book problem," and that's about true.

We got a jogger/bike trailer for Jackson. We'd been looking at the really pricey models, but ran across one at Costco. Since they have such a great return policy, we're going to try it out with Jackson and make sure we like it for the money. (Plus, they've already sold out of them, so we're glad we bought it a week ago when we saw it). It's about $400 cheaper than the high end trailers. Seems to be sturdy. Not the best jogger, but we're looking to use it more as a bike trailer and maybe stroller, not to jog with. Let's face it, it's hard enough for me to run while using my arms, I'm not exactly looking forward to running while pushing my 20 lb. baby. So, we've got to get our bikes in for a tune up and we already got Jackson an infant helmet... so we're ready and so is the weather! We did take him in a walk/jog once in it already and he really liked it, especially since he had room for toys and a pacifier. Plus, if he drops it, he just picks it back up.

Kelly's shower was a lot of fun on Saturday afternoon. Apparently our house can hold 30 women comfortably, which I was nervous about. I did cake, punch and munchies and my neighbor helped by supplying the decorations. She got a lot of great gifts and everyone said they had a great time. While I'm plugging Costco, may I also mention their cake was terrific! I am so glad I was able to host her shower. Now onto planning her bachelorette party! Dan watched Jackson upstairs for me and he also napped, which was wonderful. Dan and DJ were a big help getting the house ready and watching Jackson... don't know what I'd do without them.

DJ's been less busy all week, a nice break for him. He's hitting it hard studying for the ACT's, which he takes April 9th. He is also getting excited for prom. He's taking a sophomore named Ashton, who he is somewhat taken with. They're renting a limo, having dinner at a nice restaurant in downtown and going to the after prom party put on by the parents at his high school. Sounds like they are going to have a really nice, memorable time.

Jackson's been doing wonderfully. He's tipping the scales between 20 and 21 lbs. He has a little bit of an eye infection, but we got him on some antibiotics yesterday morning and he already seems to be feeling better. Today we took him for a nice walk in his new jogger/trailer, which he just loves. He is awful content in it. We stopped by the park where DJ and his buddy's were playing some basketball. So J and I watched while Dan joined in to play a little 2 on 2. When I left they'd moved on to football. DJ's friend Ian is coming over for dinner, I think we're going to fire up the ol' bar-b-q for the first time since last fall. Burgers all around. Jackson also had a big first today. I took him over to the baby swings and pushed him while he laughed and giggled. He really seemed to like it a lot, especially when Dan came over and started playing too. It was a lot of fun. He's napping now briefly before dinner, bath and bed time. Such a good baby! If I could have 10 more just like him, I would! Speaking of, I came across a great quote my friend Jess sent me.

“Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” (Elizabeth Stone)

Love that quote, it's so true. And, here's another one of Jackson's cool things.

And finally, Dan and are getting ready to be published in Omaha Family Magazine. We've started a partnership with the magazine for which we now write a column every month. This month we're on page 4 and wrote all about what it's like to be a married morning show. We did a his and her's perspective answering the same 5 questions. We think it turned out pretty great, plus our partnership is amazing. The owner/editor Lauren, comes on the show every other week. It's been a fun segment. If the article gets posted online, we'll be sure to post the link.
