We Need A Pause Button, Not An Easy Button!

Whew, our days have been FLYING by! I cannot even believe June is almost over... where did it go?!

The week was fun. The kids did a lot of hanging out, watching movies, playing their instruments, video games, b-ball at the park, tossing the football and running errands with me. DJ started his workouts for football last week... needless to say he was VERY sore Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday. He said it was tough to get out of bed!

On Tuesday we met with the volunteer coordinator at the Senior Center across from where we live. She was very sweet and found a lot of great jobs for the kids to do this summer. Their first day was Friday. They headed across the street and popped popcorn for movie day with an old fashioned popper. Then, because we had watched the movie the night before, while Benjamin Button was playing, they got acquainted with the WII and played all kinds of games! After that they cleaned up and came home. Overall they said it was a fun day. This week, they each go different days to do different jobs. Becca and Alex go Tuesday. She's training to be a receptionist one day a week and Alex to work in the kitchen. Then, DJ goes Wednesday to help sort bread donations. I think overall they're really looking forward to it. And, I should mention, every Tuesday, Alex and I will deliver hot meals to seniors through their meals on wheels program.

Also this past week, Dan went to Country Fest Thursday through Saturday in Cadott, WI for work. He broadcast his shows live from "Radio Row" and got to meet a few artists and interview them. Noteworthy were Jake Owen, Chuck Wicks, Joey and Rory and Kelly Pickler. He even got to do her jumbotron interview live on stage and introduce her. He said it was a blast, but exhausting being outside in the heat and humidity.

He's braver than me, I would have stumbled all over my tongue talking to crowds of 40-60,000. He did tell me, however, that he said, "Hi, I'm Dan Athrurururr." So, he had a rough start, but then worked his magic!

Saturday was a long day for me. I worked the morning show and then headed to Sauk City with one of the photogs I work with here at NBC 15 to shoot a wedding. It was a really sweet wedding and the couple was wonderful too. We're so happy we haven't run into Bride/Groomzilla yet! We got a lot of great footage and the best part is that we don't have to edit this one! We're just going to save the video to our hard drive and then mail the groom the tapes to edit. YAY!!

The weekend overall was low key, but we're kicking it up into high gear for the week once again! Alex is getting his senior pictures taken today with our photographer friend, Lisa. They're going to shoot some downtown, some by a wooded area, some by an abandoned building and the railroad tracks there. He's very excited! He's bringing a few changes of clothes and hopefully a nice smile. Plus, I'm hoping to take the kids to the pool this afternoon so they can have some fun! Then this week we're doing some editing for the basketball shoot we did, hopefully ingesting our Hayward wedding and then I'm making a brief trip home to Phoenix... because I can. :-)

Whew, a lot happening for us, but hopefully here soon we can stop and enjoy the summer...
