After work Monday, we headed North to Door County, one of the most talked about counties in Wisconsin. It's a big honeymoon and summer destination and neither of us had been there before. It was a rainy Monday, but we made good time. Our first night we stayed with Jim and Jean, friends of the family from Arizona.
It was great to see them and see where they've been living the last 8 years, this cute, Cape Cod style house. We arrived around 5 and talked and talked and talked. We also met their dog Ben. He was abused a puppy, so he is very timid around men, but after a few doggie treats, he was a little more comfortable around Dan.
Then, we freshened up and headed to a restaurant in downtown Sturgeon Bay where they had made reservations. We ordered the all you can eat prime rib and snow crab buffet and they had a steak and chicken dish. We were all very satisfied and enjoyed even more conversation! After dinner they took us on a scenic tour of the area and million dollar homes on the bay while letting us in on some of the small town gossip! I was pretty tired, but managed to stay up talking and talking and talking until a little after 10. We slept very well and woke up around 8:30 a.m., nice to sleep in. Jim made a wonderful breakfast for us and then we headed out for a tour of the island.
That led us to Death's Door, the point where Green Bay meets Lake Michigan. Along the way we stopped at a small store to pick up a jar of pepper jam we'd had on our toast with breakfast that was "Ho-made."
We also encountered this sign.
From there we headed around the other side of the island and decided ice cream would make a good lunch! They took us to Cookie's Dairy, who is also a large contributor to Land O Lakes. We got some ice cream and fudge and even got to see them milk some of the cows.

From there we headed back to Jim and Jean's, packed up our stuff and headed to our B & B.

The B & B was amazing! Here's some of the highlights and the view!

We also arrived to a snack pack and bottle of wine my parents had sent to our room for us, a very nice surprise!
After we checked in, we relaxed a bit, took a nap and then got ready for dinner. Our Inn Keeper took this photo before we headed out.
We had a wonderful steak dinner that started with shrimp cocktail and ended with mint chocolate cheese cake. It was wonderful! Speaking of food, the next morning we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the Inn.
After breakfast we headed down to the dock to have a look around. Here's the view looking back toward the B & B.
From there we enjoyed more coffee on our deck, got our bike clothes on and headed out to explore Baily's Harbor.
We headed down one of the county roads, which happened to lead us to a light house! Neither one of us had ever seen a light house before, so we headed on the path. It was breathtaking!

We climbed to the top and took a lot of pictures! Did you know that one, little light is what shines for almost 18 miles? We also learned a lot!

After our ride, we packed up and headed home. We arrived about 4 p.m. to find DJ playing b-ball with a friend. He had a half day today because of finals. He had English and history today and thinks he did VERY well! He did Spanish Tuesday and also thinks he rocked it! Tonight we're studying Biology for tomorrow... his last day of school! He's stoked about that... and then his brother and sister come into town this weekend... we're all meeting up in Chicagoland for a Cubs game Saturday! We've got a lot happening in the next week or so... stay tuned!
